Welcome to Therapy

I'm really glad you're here. Taking the first step into therapy can feel like one hell of a leap, but it's a good one. You're doing the right thing for yourself. In this space, you're going to find an inclusive, comfortable, judgment-free zone where you can be you - no holds barred. Think of this as your safe spot to unload, unwind, and unravel all the tangled stuff inside your head.

First Session -- What to Expect

It's a pleasure to meet you! We're about to embark on a collaborative process where your comfort is my priority. Upon your arrival, take a moment to make yourself at home in the waiting area. When I'm ready, I'll greet you at my office door. Once inside, select a seat that feels just right, kick off your shoes, and settle in. I have pillows and blankets to keep you cozy, and your choice of water, hot tea, or coffee to sip on. As we kick things off, we'll first review the policies and procedures you've agreed to during registration, and discuss confidentiality. This is a good time to ask any procedural question you might have.

Once that initial business stuff is out of the way, it's over to you. Feel free to let the word vomit flow -- every situation is unique. Whether you start at the beginning, middle or end, it's all good. Our conversation will eventually veer towards understanding why you've sought therapy and what you're hoping to get out of our sessions. At first, we may dig a little deeper than what feels comfortable—exploring your experiences, circumstances, and challenges—but don't sweat it. Once we've established a baseline understanding, we'll decide together on the most effective therapeutic techniques for you and create a plan for moving forward.

Please Note: I wholeheartedly believe a full session is needed to truly assess our compatibility and potential for success. For this reason, I don’t offer introductory consultations. Also, while some employers do offer free therapy sessions through Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), my practice currently does not accept these.

Scheduling and Availability

My sessions are typically fully booked. To get a heads up on available slots, don't hesitate to reach out. I'm open from 10AM to Noon, and 1PM to 6PM, Monday through Thursday. The late afternoon slots tend to fill up quickly, so if you're keen on these, be sure to act fast. If you're unable to secure a slot, fret not; you can hop onto the waitlist, and I'll reach out when a spot opens up.

Communication

Texting is the most reliable method to reach me. While I'm often unable to check email or answer phone calls during business hours, I can usually manage a quick text response. However, I'd like to remind you that I'm not a crisis counselor. In case of an emergency, please call 911 or head to the nearest Emergency Room.

Cost of Treatment

Each session, lasting approximately 55 minutes, is charged at $150. Payments are processed through the client portal at the beginning of each session. If your health insurance plan is accepted here, you're responsible for any copay and should notify me of it prior to your session. If unsure about the copay, kindly verify it with your insurance provider before scheduling your appointment.

Accepted Insurance Providers

Note that I do not require insurance coverage -- clients without insurance are always welcome.

Currently, I accept insurance from the following providers:

  • AETNA

  • All Savers Insurance

  • Allied Benefit Systems

  • Ambetter

  • Auxiant

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield

  • CareSource

  • Cigna

  • Community Health Alliance

  • Meritain Health

  • New Avenues Inc.

  • Optum

  • PHP of Northern Indiana

  • SIHO

  • UMR

  • United HealthCare

  • Zelis

Uninsured clients or clients whose insurance I do not accept are always welcome.

If your provider isn't on the list, I can still furnish them a copy of your paid invoice, so your payment might count towards your deductible. Note that upfront payment is mandatory in such cases.

Billing

After each session, I will promptly bill your insurance company for the remaining balance, and you'll receive an invoice for any remaining patient responsibility once the insurance company has responded. Prompt payment of invoices is expected. If you're experiencing financial difficulties, please communicate with me so we can discuss possible solutions. Unpaid bills may lead to the cancellation of your session and the slot might be offered to a client on the waitlist. Failure to make payments can incur late fees, which won't be covered by your insurance, and in some instances, unpaid balances might be handed over to a collection agency. Communication is key to avoiding these situations.
